QTimer’s “Dynamic Drive-thru”
NEW METRIC HELPS YOU ACHIEVE MORE THROUGHPUT DURING YOUR BUSIEST TIMES
“Dynamic Drive-thru” is a new speed-of-service metric that is unique to QTimer. Unlike previous SOS metrics, Dynamic Drive-thru looks at the contents within a food order and the orders of the vehicles queued in front to dynamically create a service goal for each vehicle in the queue. This “look behind the curtain” enables a new operations model that will use the pull forward option in a controlled manner to improve the drive-thru experience for all customers.
With many other drive-thru timers, every vehicle is treated the same, regardless of what is contained in their order. Dynamic Drive-thru puts QSRs on an even playing field by accomodating the differences in customer orders and the drive-thru’s physical layout. It will help your crew evaluate performance more accurately. It helps restore motivation to crews whose product mix or drive-thru layout was preventing them from achieving speed-of-service goals.
For example, if one vehicle has an order that contains 5 entrees versus another vehicle whose order contains only 1 entree – the 5-entree order will take a longer time to fulfill. Using the estimated fulfillment time for that vehicle and for the vehicles in front of it, Dynamic Drive-thru will calculate an expected service window time for that 5-entree vehicle. If that service window time exceeds the goal setting substantially, and the following vehicle(s) have an expected service window time that is within the goal, Dynamic Drive-thru will suggest that the 5-entree vehicle be pulled forward, providing that’s an acceptable policy.
As a result, the long service window time of the 5-entree order will not negatively affect the vehicles queued behind it. This translates to more vehicles achieving their goals and the QSR experiencing increased transactions during peak sales periods.
The benefits of Dynamic Drive-thru are substantial. HyperActive Technologies has crunched drive-thru data from numerous stores across multiple brands to vet this new metric. The most significant impact is during your busiest times, when faster speed-of-service can increase throughput.
